Construction Project The construction industry is booming as never before, and  is part of this industry knows  satisfaction can be derived when a structure is complete.

Civil - Bridge
Geotechnical Engineering is a branch of civil engineering that is dedicated to the study and design of the works that interact with the land. These works can be self-contained (retaining walls, tunnels, dams in the Earth), or they can be a part of more complex organisms (foundations, anchoring). The subjects related to this course are the stratigraphical geology, soil mechanics, rock mechanics, surface foundations deep foundations, the dewatering and others. Geotechnical arises between the Structural and Hydraulic Engineering, because it considers the ground as as a continuous phase consists of a solid part (soil particles) and a fluid (usually water) that changes the stress of developing a certain pressure, pressure call neutral. This two-phase behavior, historically used to characterise the soils was studied by Terzaghi with principles of effective efforts.

The soil is primarily studied in its stratigraphy and its mechanical behavior, for example in order to identify the type of foundations that are best suited to ensure the stability of the work and its durability. Then you define the changes introduced by the new construction, optimizing performance. The Geotechnical Engineer's profession is partly dedicated to tests in the laboratory and in situ for the mechanical characterization of soils, but mainly consists of design verification measures affecting the underworld (foundations, supporting work, excavations, tunnels, embankments, piling, bulkheads, consolidations of slopes, etc). As a rule you must also take account of the presence of groundwater by evaluating its interaction with the layers of soil, the phenomena of filtration, lifting the bottom of the excavation and siphoning. Sometimes analysis are required to existing works and subject to damage, to restore the conditions of service. A classic example is that of differential settlements. An important field of geotechnical engineering is the evaluation of safety of a slope exists, namely the verification of slope stability. Geotechnical design by its nature must interface with the design of the superstructure and must compete with surrounding conditions, especially in urbanized areas. The required skills to geotechnical engineer are shared with other disciplines, such as structural engineering, hydraulic engineering, transport engineering, geology and physics. Very often, his contribution is part of a team of specialists in structural progettazone.
